Questions & Answers
No matter what you're using it for, you've made a valuable
investment in your shed and now you're ready to move it on to
your property. Or you simply may need to relocate your shed to a
different location in your yard. We will be glad to assist you with
your shed moving project.
Below are answers to common questions we hear from customers
that want their shed moved. If your question is not answered here,
please email us or use the form to contact us.
How do I get a free estimate?
Before you request a free estimate please follow the steps we've
outlined on our website or click here.
We need to know the starting location, the final destination, the
size and style of your shed. We need to know if your shed includes
electrical or plumbing service. You will need to send us a picture of
your shed, and any information you feel will help with the
estimate process. Let us know what typoe of sidfing is on your
shed and the age of your shed if you know it. Let us know whether
or not it is currently on skids, the access to start and destination
points and whether there will be ditches, fences, landscaping or
unlevel ground to consider. You can send us this info by the form,
text or email to cardinalbuildings@gmail.com.

What is your service area?
Our service area covers Wake, Johnston and Harnett counties. If you are a bit outside of this area, we may still be able
to work with you. Give us a call at (919) 771-2833.
Why does the relocation of a shed cost so much?
Basically, in scheduling we have to block half a day of time or more per job. Your shed may require skids be put into
place prior to the move, or new blocking at the new location. There is also the cost of proper equipment, necessary
licenses, and insurances. For larger sheds, a permit and/or escort truck may be required.
*At this time we are not moving sheds wider than 10 feet on the highway, we are moving sheds wider than 10 feet in
the yard.
Why does the shed need to be emptied?
Items can shift during the move and the shift in weight can damage your shed. Therefore, the shed MUST be empty to
protect your shed, our equipment, your property and the people doing the move.
Will you set the shed back up and level it at the new location?
Yes. When we get to the new location, we will set your shed up and level with varying heights of concrete blocks,
strategically placed for shed levelness and stability (we use the blocks from the old location. If additional blocks are
needed they can be purchased. It is not part of the basic contract to repair, paint or provide base trim work for the
relocated shed, but we may be able to connect you with a colleague who can help out with such tasks. We DO NOT
typically re-attach the steps or ramps. Often times the existing steps or ramps do not fit properly due to the age or
condition of the steps or ramp once removed.
Will you move a shed I purchase from someone else?
We will not move a shed purchased from another dealer. They are responsible for delivery and set up. If you purchase
a used shed, you will need to have the person who owns the property complete the Waiver of Liability, in order for us
to go onto their property.
What do I need to do to prepare to have my shed moved?
You must empty the shed, measure the shed and send in your measurement worksheet. Review the DOT
requirements and let us know if your shed is classified as oversized or overweight. Make sure that there is access to
move the shed out of, and into the new location.
How do I know if there is adequate space and clearance to move the shed?
Measure the shed from the bottom of the skids to peak of the roof. Then add 3 feet to allow for the height of the
trailer. Check the path the shed will travel during the shed move, checking eaves of home, other structures in the path,
such as trees and power lines, to make sure there is adequate clearance. Frequently tree branches must be trimmed.
Measure the width of the shed at its widest point, adding at least 2 feet. This is what will be needed for clearance to
trees, fences, and other structures. If it will be necessary to turn the trailer carrying your shed, you may need to add 3-5
more feet to the width of the shed for clearance.
How do I prepare the site where the shed will be relocated?
Make sure there is access to the location as you did at the site of removal. You will need an extra foot or two larger
than the shed for the area where it will be placed. There should be no large rocks or stumps. You can leave grass or
weeds, or spread gravel or prepare a concrete pad. If the site is not level, let us know to bring extra blocking materials.
Please make sure that there is a long straight shot in and out of the gate to allow entry and exit of shed moving
equipment if the yard is fenced. Please remove any doggie landmines at both shed move locations.
How do I pay for the shed moving service?
You can pay by cash, check, or any major credit card. Full payment is due upon delivery or the day of the move, but you
can pay in advance if it is more convenient.
